 Het Genereuze Gebaar

Van 15 augustus tot en met 14 november 2021 organiseert Museum Slager in 's-Hertogenbosch een zeer bijzondere tentoonstelling: de verkoopexpositie “Het genereuze gebaar”. Meer dan 30 bekende Nederlandse kunstenaars bieden hun werken te koop aan. In totaal gaat het om 110 schilderijen. Ik doe met 4 werken mee. 

De (digitale) verkoop verloopt per opbod en de opbrengst gaat voor een deel naar projecten Colourful Children en het Liliane Fonds.

Tonight we are pleased to present artist number 7 of a total of 15: Paul Corvers (*1953 in 's-Hertogenbosch, lives and works in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands) Read more about the abstract-minimalist painter and his pure compositions built up from clear colour surfaces in the following statement and his CV on our website www.galerie-biesenbach.de.

 

Paul Corvers is one of 15 artists selected from our second ART MATTERS Open Call. One by one, we present all their submitted works daily at 6pm CET and announce the winner of the competition on Monday, 14 December. She or he will be invited to participate in an exhibition in our gallery in Cologne in 2021.

Hans November, curator of 20th and 21st century art at the Noord-Brabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch, about the work of Paul Corvers (excerpt):

“In the recent works of Paul Corvers, the figurative tools are increasingly being abandoned in order to arrive at pure, abstract compositions, built up of clear areas of colour determined by chance and indeterminacy. […]

The adventure of painting is in the minimum. In this way, the areas of colour that appear on the canvas only refer to themselves. They are completely at rest and entirely at peace with each other. It results in works that represent a welcome silence. The small formats of most of the works unravel an unprecedented grandeur. It is in line with what John Cage once said: 'There is no such thing as an empty space or an empty time. There is always something to see, something to hear. In fact, if we're trying to produce silence, we cannot.’ In the art of Paul Corvers working in great freedom also results in a void rich in images and sounds. A composed silence.”

Uitnodiging expositie 'een gecomponeerde stilte' in M21 Gallery te Knokke

Op 8 augustus opent mijn solopresentatie 'Een Gecomponeerde Stilte' bij de M21 Gallery te Knokke (België). De galerie is gevestigd aan de Zeedijk Zoute 825. In Knokke geldt de verplichting om een mondmasker te dragen in alle straten en ook in de galerie. Verder is er een beperking ten aanzien van het aantal bezoekers dat gelijktijdig in de galerie aanwezig mag zijn.

Het zal dus een vernissage zijn anders dan gewend. Maar als iedereen zich goed houdt aan de in Knokke geldende COVID-19 richtlijnen, zal het beslist een succes worden.

In het weekend van 8 en 9 augustus zal de galerie van 10:30 tot 18:30 uur aaneengesloten geopend zijn. Op 8 augustus ben ik aanwezig in de galerie. Ik hoop je daar te mogen begroeten.
